A Crosswalk of a Philosophy for Children Hawai'i (p4cHI) Teaching Tool and the Mathematical Practice

The 2019 Hawaii Council of Teachers Mathematics Conference aims to introduce a pedagogical approach, Philosophy for Children Hawai’i (p4cHI) and an accompanying teaching tool, The Good Thinker’s Toolkit. This might support teachers’ ability to strengthen children’s development of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematical Practice (SMPs), while also developing fundamental inquiry skills that are easily transferable to other academic disciplines. During the presentation we will present some examples of the toolkit in action in elementary mathematics classrooms.

The conference will be held Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Hawai'i Baptist Academy.
