Global Issues Good Thinker's Tool Kit Lesson Plan

photo 5

On August 19, 2014 Dr. Amber Strong Makaiau had the opportunity to introduce the Good Thinker's Tool Kit to students at Mid Pacific Institute (MPI). MPI teacher, Mr. Nicholas Perih has been experimenting with p4cHI in his high school social studies courses, and this semester he teamed up wit Dr. Makaiau to create an introductory Good Thinker's Tool Kit lesson for his 11th and 12th grade Global Issues course. The lesson focused on students and teachers co-creating "Good Thinker's Tool Kit Books." As a part of the lesson, the students engaged in mini-inquiries with one another in which they generated Good Thinker's Tool Kit questions about the Material World Global Family Portrait photograph series. When asked about the impact of the lesson, Mr. Perih reports, "the books have made such a huge difference in regards to the questions that ask." see the link below for a complete copy of Dr. Makaiau Global Issues Good Thinker's Tool Kit lesson plan.
